Melvin Harris Obituary

Melvin Harris, a dedicated family man, was born on May 10, 1956, to Celia Brown and Norman Harris Sr. Raised by his beloved grandmother Gracie Croskey, Melvin attended the Marion & Dade County School Systems, shaping the foundation of his journey.

In his lifetime, Melvin married and became a loving father to Melvin Baker, Norman Baker, Tonya Baker, and Legend Aiden Harris. His passion for family extended to his siblings, including (Deceased) Linda Miller, Vinelle Miller, Carmen Miller, Johnnie Mae Brown, Barbara Brown, Dikenna Brown, Tamashia Brown Anderson (Dexter Anderson), (Deceased) Maynard Blackman, Shaun (Troy) Reed all of Ocala, FL, Stanley Harris of Lakeland, FL, Norman (Buddy) Harris of Lakeland, Tara Harris of Miami, FL, Gary Gabriel of Tampa, FL, Monique Fletcher of Huntsville, AL, and Norma Jean Harris of Tacoma, Washington.

Melvin's devotion extended to his Brother in law Daunte (Kenosha) Townsend, creating a tightly knit family bond. His legacy lives on through his children Norman Carroll Harris Baker, Melvin Lamar Harris Baker, Latonya Danielle Thompson, and Legend Aidan Harris, as well as his cherished grandchildren.

A hardworking entrepreneur, Melvin's life was marked by his love for his sharp sense of style, cooking and a deep connection with the land. He had a unique ability to turn his passion into profit, always engaged in various side hustles. A man of God, he found solace in reading and studying the word. Melvin will be remembered for his smile and all-around great spirit.

His sense of humor even led to shared moments of coon hunting, fishing and creating his own wine by mixing fruits. Melvin Harris, a man of warmth, generosity, and resilience, will be deeply missed but forever cherished by his beloved family and those who had the privilege of knowing him. May he rest in peace. Forever in our hearts.
