Lorene Smith Walker was born on August 6, 1936,to the late Ed Smith and Zetta Mae Hope-Smith in Welaka, FL.
Lorene received her formal education at Palatka Central Academy in Palatka, FL. She furthered her education at Orlando Barber College as well as Carol Nashe School of modeling in Boston, MA.
Lorene Smith Walker accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at Demascus Baptist Church of Welaka, Florida at an earlier age.
Lorene Smith was united in holy matrimony to Clarence Walker, Sr. on May 9, 1953, in Palatka, FL. Their union was blessed with eight children.
Lorene Smith Walker was the first woman to hold an executive position as a Vice President of the Boston Chapter of the Associated Master Barbers and Beauticians of America, (Local 956).
As her profession, she was self-employed as a Master Barber at Oakes Barbershop in Roxbury, MA. Lorene was a published model and aspiring actress in many commercials and magazines. After retiring to Summerfield, Florida, she became a restauranteur at Butter’s Pit and a barber shop owner in Welaka, FL. Lorene attended barber school and obtained her barbers license from the department of cosmetology in the state of Florida.
In her leisure, she enjoyed shopping, cooking, gardening but most of all spending time with her family.
She leaves to cherish her precious memory: Clarence Walker, Sr. (husband), Cedric E. Milton, Sr. (Ruth), Clarise L. Walker, Vincent Walker, Sr. (Yvonne), Zetta M. Walker, Phyllis W. Webster, (Nolan, Jr.), 22 grandchildren, 47 great grandchildren, 9 great-great grandchildren, a host of sorrowing nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Lorene Smith Walker departed this life on August 5, 2023. She was preceded in death by (parents) Ed Smith and Zetta Mae Hope-Smith, Ethel Carter Smith (special mother), Edna H. Smith (stepmother), Emerson G. Walker (son), Lorena K. Walker (daughter), Clarence Walker, Jr. (son) Cassandra O. Maxwell (special niece).
