Obituary for LaTwania Marie Brown
In Ocala, Florida, on April 22, 1964, Billie Brown gave birth to a precious little girl whom she named LaTwania Marie.
LaTwania attended her early school years in New York state. After returning to Florida, she attended Marion County schools, graduating from North Marion High School in 1982. She furthered her education by attending Santa Fe Community college. She accepted Christ at an early age and worked faithfully as a youth at Mt. Tabor AME Church. As an active YPD member, LaTwania served on the local, Area, and Conference levels. Upon moving to Gainesville, she joined Williams Temple COGIC where she was a faithful member who served on the Hospitality Team and Usher Board.
Further, LaTwania was a volunteer for the American Red Cross and the Alachua Democratic Party where she served as Precinct Committeewoman. She was a strong advocate for Get Out and Vote campaigns. Her passion to serve was documented in the Florida State recognition LaTwania received for her committed community involvement.
On January 30, 2021, she transitioned to her new home where she will have eternal rest. She joins her aunt, Rev. Kathy James, and her uncle, Earl Joe Brown, who both preceded her in joining the great cloud of witnesses earlier this month.
LaTwania leaves to cherish her memories: Mother, Billie Brown Hudson; Daughter, Brandi Irving; Son, Gregory Means; Aunts, Gloria Butler, Annie Barbour, Cheryl Baker; one aunt,Vivian Brown; one uncle, Jimmie Baker, and a host of cousins, and sorrowing friends.
