Felice Jones Obituary

Born, Felice Sylvia LaDorne Jones to the union of the late Azell Lampkins of Miami, FL and Marian Young Wingo. She was adopted and raised in the loving Ocala home of her grandparents, the late Henry Sylvester and Mary Vereen Jones on SW Ft. King Street.
With a rich educational foundation, Sylvia was member of, both, the Howard High School Class of 1968 and the 1968 inaugural integrated Ocala High School class. In 1972, Sylvia graduated from the illustrious Bethune-Cookman College where she earned her bachelor’s degrees in Social Work and Psychology. While there, she was a Gamma Tau Chapter initiate of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. She earned her master’s degree in Social Work from Florida State University (FSU). While attending FSU, she was president of the Graduate Students in Social Work Association. She was awarded the 1974 Graduate of Year Award from the FSU Chapter of the National Association of Black Social Workers. Sylvia was a professor at Florida A&M University and adjunct professor at FSU.
A staunch advocate for the disenfranchised, Sylvia’s expertise was in social work, mental health, community action, grant writing, and gerontology. She is an affiliate with the Families for Cancer Prevention United Foundation as well as the Democratics Woman’s Club of Marion County.  
Sylvia was married to Dr. Fred Seamon. To this union, her children, Trellis Nichole Williams and Jerel Seamon were born.
She leaves a strong and lasting legacy for her children and grandchildren, who are working professionals and entrepreneurs. Sylvia often said education is an important factor in becoming the best you can be.”
Sylvia leaves to delight in her memories, a daughter, Trellis Nichole Williams, a son Jerel Seamon; grandchildren, GD-1 Jessica Shajuan (Mark), GD-2 Nealyn Jherell (Jonathan), GD-3 Chori Michael. GD-4 Kezia Mone’, GS1- Joshua Jerel, GS2- James Andrew, and GS3-Sirr Christian (Kortnee), Malik, Rhyan, Sede, Noa Grace, Maxwell, Tre, and Noah; a brother, Azell Lampkin, Jr., Keith (Pam) Lampkin, Victor Wingo (Ronnita) and Kennard (Gwendolyn) Lampkin; sisters Sharron Lampkin, Debbie Wingo, Stephanie (Cookie) Autry, and Mary Toni Wingo; dear Sister-Cousin Cheryl Ann Reed (Anthony); dedicated partner, Bill Lofton; cherished sister in love, Leartha Phyllis Jones; and goddaughters Veronica Duncan, Antonia Smith, Erika Smith, and Cheryl J. Johnson.
She was proceeded in death by her brothers, Theodore ‘Tim Buddy’ Young and Henry Jones. She also leaves a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, Sorors, and friends.
