Deacon Leroy Felton Faison, Sr. made his final “Footprints in the Sand” toward God’s Heavenly Kingdom on May 22, 2025. He was such a loving, humble, devoted, inspirational, and spiritual man full of wisdom, faith, and grace. His life touched countless others, and those who knew him will love and miss him dearly, always. Rest in God’s care, Daddy, until we see you again one day.
Born on November 22, 1936, in Belleview, Florida, to the late Mayo and Viola Faison, Leroy was raised in a home built on strong Christian values. He graduated from Belleview Santos High School in the 1950s and went on to live a life marked by service, family, and faith.
Deacon Faison accepted Christ at an early age and served faithfully throughout his life. He was a longtime member of New St. John Missionary Baptist Church, where he held the esteemed role of Chairman of the Deacon Board. Even when illness limited his physical ability, his devotion to God never wavered, he remained a faithful servant until the end.
On July 27, 1958, he was united in holy matrimony to Deaconess Hester Mae Wise Faison in Ocala, Florida. Their enduring union was blessed with five children, and together they built a legacy of love, faith, and integrity.
Professionally, Deacon Faison worked as Head Supervisor of Perishable Warehouse for Certified Grocers of Florida, where he was employed for 40 years until his retirement. He was respected for his work ethic, leadership, and quiet strength.
In his leisure, he found joy in fishing, playing golf, gardening, and keeping his lawn in pristine condition—a true reflection of the care and order he brought to every area of his life.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Deaconess Hester Wise Faison, his parents Mayo and Viola Faison, and his siblings: Mrs. Carrie Bell Walker, Christine Helfin, Louis Faison, James Faison, and Mayo Faison, Jr.
He leaves to cherish his memory daughters Nancy Browning, Viterra Faison, Brenda James (Wash), Latricia Wright (Levertus), and sons Leroy Faison, Jr. (Jacki) and Rev. Dr. Wayne D. Faison (Carmen). His loving sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Mathis. His grandchildren are Corey Mosley (Sandra), Chasity Alston (Lenton), Kenyon Wright (Lisa), Christon Browning, Staff Sergeant Brandon James, Tiesha James, Tanaya James, Terrika Faison, Andrea Faison, Antonio Faison, and Latoya Wright.
