Rakeem Jamal Smith, 24, transitioned from this life on June 8, 2018. He leaves to cherish his memory, his mother, Adrienne Bedford Williams, and father, Carl Williams. His grandfather, T.L. Bedford, his three brothers, Conriavous Bedford (Carolina), Christopher Williams (Tall), and Courtney Bedford (Latoya), and his second mom, Johnnie Mae Reaves (Walter). He also leaves a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He also had three special school friends, Kiondre’ Brown, Kiara Jackson, and Chelsea Leisey.
He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Vivian Bedford, his brother, Qwentavious Bedford, and his aunt Laberta Bedford.
Mr. Smith was educated in the Alachua County Public School System, and he graduated from Eastside High School. He was employed by Shands at the University of Florida in the Food Service Department.
A Homegoing Celebration for Mr. Smith will be held on Saturday, June 16th, 11:00 a.m. at Greater Fort Clark Missionary Baptist Church, 9121 W. Newberry Rd, Gainesville, FL, Rev. J.W. Honeysucker, Pastor. The Eulogist will be Apostle George McCray, Light of the World Church, Ocala, FL. Public visitation will be held on Friday, June 15th at Church of the Living God in Christ, 1705 NE 5th Ave, Gainesville, FL, 6:00-8:00 p.m.
