Rosa Fitzgerald James

On Monday, November 6, 2017, our beloved Rosa Fitzgerald James departed this earthly life and went to be with the Lord.  

She was born on May 5, 1926 to the late William Fitzgerald and Bertha Thompson Fitzgerald in Apalachicola, Florida. Her parents died when she was very young and her Aunt Mary Vann raised her. Rosa had a sister, Bertha Fitzgerald who preceded her in death.  

Ms. Rosa as she was affectionately called was educated in the public schools in Franklin County (Florida). Knowing that she had a greater calling on her life, Ms. Rosa decided to become a nurse so she decided to go to nursing school in Tampa, Florida.  Upon  graduating from nursing school, she began her career in nursing in  1961 at Monroe Memorial Regional Hospital in Ocala, Florida.  She retired after twenty-six years as a caring and dedicated nurse.  

Ms. Rosa was an active member of the Greater Hopewell Baptist Church. She was a dedicated, faithful, and active member until January of this year when her health began to decline. Although she was not physically able to attend, she kept the love of her church in her heart.  

Ms. Rosa was married to the late Mr. Carl Harris in 1943. She had three daughters  Frances Harris-Broome (deceased), Terri Hudson, and Delma E. Harris. She later married Mr. Earmon James who also preceded her in death.  

Ms. Rosa leaves to cherish her memory two loving daughters,Terri Hudson (Jacksonville, Florida) and Delma E. Harris (Atlanta, Georgia), two granddaughters ,Telecia Hudson, Terica (Daoud) Hudson-Phillips; one grandson Carl Stephon Polite; three great-grandchildren, Marcus, Tiana, and Daoud Jr.; and a host of special cousins, her church family, and friends whom she adored dearly.  

Funeral Services will be held 11:00am , November 11, 2017 at Greater Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church, 515 NW 6th Terrace, Ocala, Florida. Rev. Edward Bland, Pastor
Interment will immediately follow in Faith Memorial Gardens
